Last Men And First Men (Olaf Stapleto) - Finalized ePub

ePub file for this now finished. I read the complete book, repaired some typos clearly introduced by automatic OCR, completed the table of contents, etc.

You can download it here.

PD: as I said in my previous post, I did not manage to get any copies of the 4 figures on the book. If someone is kind enough to provide some scans of them, I will add them to the ePub.

Last Men and First Men (Olaf Stapledon)

I  started to read books on my iPhone. I picked some I want to read, and loaded into my iPhone. Surprise!  PDF files are awful for reading in the small iPhone screen. Then I found the ePub format, much more easier to read as all the presentation is handled by the Books app.

But not every book is available in ePub format, so, what to to? After some digging I found Sigil (http://code.google.com/p/sigil/), a small tool that allows to create ePub files from scratch, and also edit existing ones.I is very easy to create ePub files using Sigil, at least for me with my 20+ years of experience with HTML...

So I told myself: what if I start creating my own ePub files?  I chose this book titled "The First And Last Men", by Olaf Stapledon (english version), and put my hands at work. As soon as I finish I will publish it on this blog. (in not more that a month!)

UPDATE 1: found  some ePub versions already available, but none of them was ok. I like quality stuff, and did not find any version with a working/complete table of contents or correctly formated text. So proceeding anyway!

UPDATE 2:  work in progress going fine... discovered the book contains four images, but cannot find any Pdf or ePub containing them. Anyone has the actual book? Can you scan them for me?

UPDATE 3 (aug-15): finished transcription of the book. Now I'm reading it from start to finish, and I already  discovered a lot of errors and glitches. As I said, I want to produce a quality product.

UPDATE 4 (aug-28) finished reading & correcting. Published here.

flickr groups: Post 1 / Award X

For flickr users:

I have this idea of building an extension for the Google Chrome browser, that helps you add your flickr photos to groups that require awarding other member's photos.

The idea is simple: you configure a list of groups that you add photos to regularly, storing the award code provided by each group's admin. When you are looking at your own photo, you will see a new button added to the browers, that will you pick one or more groups where you want to add the photo to, and presto!

The extension will automatically award other peoples photos in the group and then add yours to tha same group, for every group, using the configured award code.

Do you like the idea?  Please let me know... I could take me no more that a month to have it running and published in the Chrome Web Store...

If one person likes the idea, I will start rightaway.
